Frequently Asked Questions

What exactly does MailMute do?

We opt you out of the most common sources of junk mail — including national databases, catalogs, coupon packs, and data brokers that sell your information. Think of us as your personal concierge service for junk mail. Then, we provide ongoing support for one full year and clean up anything else that slips through.

How does the process work?

You fill out a quick form with your personal information. We use that info to submit formal opt-out requests on your behalf. Most junk mail starts to decrease within a few weeks, and you’ll continue to see improvements over the next few months.

How long does the service take?

Our team works fast. We'll finish your service and provide a report within 72 hours (3 days). During your one-year support period, you'll receive a response within 24 hours.

How long does it take to see results?

You may start seeing less junk mail in 2–4 weeks. Some senders operate on longer mailing cycles, so full results can take up to 12 weeks. That's why we provide one year of follow-up support to catch anything that lingers.

What types of junk mail do you stop?

We target:

- Retail catalogs

- Credit card offers

- Coupon mailers

- Real estate solicitations

- National charity and donation mailers

- Data broker-driven mailings

We also take custom requests — just send us a photo of persistent offenders. If it shows up to your house, we'll try to stop it.

Does this work for all types of junk mail?

We stop most common forms of junk mail, including catalogs, credit offers, coupon packs, donation solicitations, and mail triggered by data brokers. This accounts for more than 90% of junk mail. However, we can’t block official government mail, political flyers, or community notices — including Every Door Direct Mail (EDDM) campaigns sent through USPS. These are delivered to every address in a route and cannot be individually opted out of.

That said, if anything feels excessive or persistent, just send let us know via email — we’ll do our best to shut it down where possible. Remember, we're your personal junk mail concierge.

Is this a one-time service or subscription?

MailMute is a one-time service with full support for 12 months.

Is my personal information safe?

Yes. We only use your information to submit official opt-out requests on your behalf. We never sell, rent, or share your data with third parties. Your privacy is our priority.

Do I need to download an app or scan my mail?

Nope. This is a done-for-you service — no apps and nothing to track. Just fill out our quick form and we handle the rest.

What if I keep getting junk mail after signing up?

You’re covered. Just email us a photo or the sender name, and we’ll handle the follow-up. You have unlimited cleanup support for one full year. For those who don't listen, your plan includes escalation support, which means we'll contact them on your behalf to demand them to stop.

Can you remove me from specific catalogs or charities?

Yes! Just let us know which ones you want to stop and we’ll submit removal requests directly. The more detail you provide, the better.

What happens after my 12-month support ends?

You’ll have the option to renew for another year of ongoing monitoring and cleanup. We’ll remind you before it ends — and we keep it affordable.

Where are you based?

We’re based in Washington, D.C. and serve customers nationwide.
